Stalling Bedtime

Mason likes to stall his bedtime. Every. Single. Night. And for some reason he decided to act like a little baby here too. Silly goose!

Pool Play

Mason and I made a trip to the pool yesterday since it was so pretty outside. Personally, I'm very thankful we don't have a pool at the house because otherwise I would have had to start infant swim classes the minute he became mobile. Mason has no fear of water!
This was my "Do Not Pass Go" move...Mason just sought out another way to wander around the pool.Thankfully, the life jacket I bought last year still fits and Mason enjoyed floating around the pool.
When it was time to rinse off, he enjoyed the water splashing.
SPLISH SPLASH!
What a fun day for my little swimmer!
A stylin' pool dude...

Since We Missed the Derby

I know it's officially June...actually it's even almost JULY...and well the Derby is the first weekend of May. HOWEVER, doesn't every little prepster need equestrian attire?
This is after church last Sunday.
If we're able to, I'd like for Mason to have the opportunity to ride when he gets older. Perhaps it's my own Texas roots, or maybe it's just because I would have enjoyed it myself when I was younger. I've only ridden horses 4 times in my life {all Western style}. Of course since Mason doesn't even like the Carousel right now, it's very possible he won't like horses until he's much older. But who knows- maybe I'll have a little polo player on my hands...

On a similar note, I'd like to report that Mason has added "neigh"ing to his animal sounds repertoire! YAY!

Friday Night Date

We had a mommy/baby playdate at Leah and Carson's house---what a fun Friday Night Date! It's been really fun watching Mason and Carson play together (or parallel play). Carson is exactly 2 months older so it's a great fit for these BFFs! Check out their matching madras plaid outfits...by accident.Sweet Baby Emerson {and her Mommy} joined us too. She may be one of the most easy going babies I've met. She didn't even mind that she was propped up for a photo opp and between a camera hog who kept bouncing while cheesing at the camera and an upset kiddo who wanted to be held.
Poor Carson...he just wanted to be held!
A big shoutout to LEAH today...it's her BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birthday Leah, hope this year holds many special things in store for you & your family. Enjoy the celebration and we're so thankful to have you, T & C in our lives!

Shake It...for Gigi

I know M has become a video/photo-attention-monger...but this was late one night after he woke up at midnight, wide-awake and wanting to boogie down rather than sleep. I think I have a little night owl on my hands...

PS and for those of you who catch the reference...is this an early sign of Jersey "fist pumping"? Haha!

Busy Boy

It's been a tiring week with lots of things going on.
My little Picasso has been busy at work...
And he has seriously started to figure out how to navigate through the digital cable system. One day he switched from the Disney channel to PBS Kids all on his own. Of course there are other times when I have to make sure he's not ordering Pay-Per-View too...
And at the end of the day, we're both pretty zonked...

Weekend Fun- Texas in Alabama

Uncle Batman {yes, that's no pseudonym...Ashton really wanted to be called "Batman" so it's gonna stick} now lives with us and his girlfriend Tori has been coming in town for the weekends for several of their friends' weddings.
Mason has officially been dubbed a Texas Rangers fan.
And then Saturday after a trip to one of Mommy's friend's houses, Mason was given a pair of big-boy boots. His first were from Auntie Betty {HERE} so I'm pretty sure this kiddo will grow up understanding the Texas connection =)

They Call Me Mellow Yellow

Well I wish I were called "Mellow" {I think I was much more mellow before becoming a Mommy}. Check out this little guy who turns my world upside-down...AND I wouldn't have it any other way!
And well, in reference to Yellow, it's Mason's favorite color. Seriously. He repeatedly shows interest in this particular crayon. He'll throw the others to break them into pieces, but for some reason he's treasured his yellow crayon. And rightly so:
Rock On with your bad SUNshiney self, my sweet YELLOW child =)

A Zooper Day

Mason and I had a "zooper" date at the Zoo yesterday. Our first stop was the Splash Pad with a Soapy Suds Pit.
He wasn't so sure about the water sprays at first.
But then he warmed up.
I'm using the Neutrogena Pure & Free...we had a sunblock mishap and he looked like a mime.
The boys had fun splashing in the water.
And then Mason played peekaboo for his portrait as a giraffe.

What a fun day at the zoo!
And after 3.5 hours of being pushed around, he did pretty well for a 1-yr-old.
But at the end of the day, he was zonked.
Look how tired this monkey is...and he's even trying to do "Bug Eyes"!

What a fun time with all the Animals!

Staying at Home

Being a stay-at-home has our household pretty excited lately.
And then sometimes I think he just gets bored. But with me home, Mason's been doing some of his favorite things like: coloring pictures, playing in the park, splashing in the kiddie pool, strolling the neighborhood, and one of his favorites-reading books...

16-Months Old

At 16 months, Mason's...
...loving the kiddie pool we got for the deck.
...cut 2 molars for a total of 10 teeth {well technically one side isn't fully pushed through yet}.
...RUNNING everywhere!
...throwing temper tantrums. I find it humorous that the Pediatric Group's Wellness Sheet warns of this and says, "Children will begin to throw temper tantrums at this age. Do your best to ignore them." HA!
...mostly cheesey though. He has such a cool little sense of humor. He'll jibber-jabber and then laugh at his own joke {I laugh with him as if I understand the punch line}. Oh and he thinks it's funny to hide things, even though this started several months ago, it seems to have increased. Last night I found he put his toy cars in the dryer; he still hides his sippy cup often; and he sometimes drops his playfood down the spiral-shaped toy car slide. ...and then he giggles!

*EDIT*
At our 16-Month Well Visit, Masons stats are...
{we had to skip the regularly scheduled 15-mo Wellness Check because of the insurance change}
Height: 31.5 in
Weight 24 lbs, 3.5 oz
Head Circumference: 18 in
ATTENTION ALL: At 16 months, Mason is now 50th percentile for weight AND 50-55th percentile for height! So, I no longer think he'll be a little person after several months of ranging from below 5th percentile to 30th at the higher point
{not that there's anything wrong with dwarves/little people/midgets/etc...it's just that there are additional challenges with a much smaller stature}

Mason's Best Bud

Being a new stay-at-home mommy {temporarily!} has proven to be a tremendous challenge.....of keeping Mason enriched and entertained. As of late, there have been too many times where I've relied on cartoons so it was a big treat for us to have a playdate with Carson on schedule.
Mason is a very affectionate little guy. He just loves hugging all over poor Carson.
The boys had fun playing around.
And then amazingly when I asked them to both sit while I prepared lunch, they both eagerly obeyed and plopped down on the splat mat in anticipation of lunch.
I put Carson in the high chair and did have a bit of a struggle keeping Mason still, but they both ate lunch and Mason enjoyed feeding Carson too.
The after-lunch treat was on the back deck. Mason and I had just picked out a cool shark pool and shark sprinkler {to match his shark swimshorts} and we picked up 5 of the $1 beach balls. Yes. I. Blew. Up. Everything. By. My. Own. Air. {someone's full of hot air, huh?}.
I'm fairly certain the pool and balls were a hit!
They enjoyed throwing the balls in the water and roaming around in general. It was good to be on an enclosed deck so there was nowhere for anyone to wander off {a-hem Mason}
Aunt Mary and Baby Hollywood aka Baby Sophie enjoyed the splish splash too.
Check out that Superstar!
I think they would have stayed outside for hours if they could have.
But there's nothing like a sweet popsicle treat to entice them away from the water for a cool break.
Mason really enjoyed that pop...check out the red line of gooeyness running down his belly and his little tongue sticking out the side!
